Chico’s California Park neighborhood is the only area where you can walk on trails, row on the lakes or enjoy the wildlife of the different “pond” areas. With several common areas, newer homes and nice winding streets this is one of Chico’s most popular neighborhoods! You can be close to Upper Bidwell Park, schools and shopping off 20th St. This neighborhood has housing for most anyone with apartments, condominiums, homes and the large senior section of “Sierra Sunrise”!
This residual area in North Chico comprises of the Amber Grove, Willowby Glen and other subdivisions. Known for newer homes on city sized lots, its close to DeGarmo Park and Shasta Elementary School. There are several builders who have neighborhoods here and the homes range in size from 1200 sq. feet to over 3000 square feet! Its an easy entrance to Hwy 99 which makes it an easy drive to all parts of Chico!
Canyon Oaks is a gated golf course neighborhood which offers stand alone and patio homes; some with views of Canyon Oaks Golf Course and/or of the Sacramento Valley. You can have sunset views, foothill views and a few even have view of Upper Bidwell Park. There are also patio homes for the people wanting the security and location of this neighborhood but maybe not the expense of a large home or want this as a second home, one they can lock up and leave without worry.
Canyon Oaks Golf Course is a private golf course and owning a home here doesn’t come with membership for the course. You can purchase a membership, both full and social for different golf options. There is a lovely club house with restaurant and bar for its members.
One of Chico’s most popular locations is “The Avenues” where the highest concentration of California Bungalows and Chico Charmers are located. Generally speaking from downtown north to 11th Ave and on both the East and West sides of the Esplanade. This area has recently been added to the City Sewer system and is be updated and improved house by house! Homes closest to 1st Ave and the Esplanade are the most coveted and the few homes that come on the market in this location don’t last long!
Known for its almond and walnut orchards, rich soil and large trees this area west of Chico State University offers houses for parent/student investments as well as popular older neighborhoods for buyers looking for large lots and quiet streets. Big Chico Creek Estates, Walnut Woods and other streets offer close in large homes and lots.
Sought after because of its large lots, most homes are located on at least 1/2 acre! There are some older streets, but most homes here are less than 20 years old and many have pools, horse set-ups and privacy! Homes area generally over 2200 square feet, although there are some older smaller homes mixed in and this leads to a higher price range.
To be within a few blocks of Bidwell Park is highly desirable, one of Chico’s Crown jewels it features natural pools for summer swimming. Miles of hiking, walking and bike trails and its right in the center of Chico! From the beginning of “Annie’s Glen” in downtown Chico running for miles and miles into the foothills of Chico this is our treasure. This is also the gateway to the connection of the bike path connecting Bidwell Park and Butte Creek Canyon, and the Harrison Bike and Walk Trail, a very popular cycling route!
